ABOUT investED

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in the Washington, DC metropolitan region, investED Enrichment Services, Inc. provides assistance to at-risk youth and persons living in low income communities, in the form of tutoring, mentoring and community service activities.

 

Through these activities, investED seeks to improve the overall quality of life of those participating in the mentoring program and residents in the community it serves. The organization currently conducts a mentoring program serving youth--male and female-- in Southeast Washington, DC based out of the Solomon G. Brown Corps Community Center. Program participants range from 1st grade to 12th grade.

The investED mentoring program entails tutoring sessions for youth struggling in particular school subjects as well as seminars based on specific topics. Seminar topics include, but are not limited to:

  • health and wellness

  • goal setting

  • financial literacy

  • life after high school

  • dining etiquette

  • self-esteem building

  • public speaking

  • proper hygienic practices

  • and dressing for success

The mentoring program also includes a variety of interactive team building exercises.

 

In addition to the mentoring program, investED has a partnership with Panera Bread. Each week, investED provides baked good items from Panera with no artificial ingredients or artificial preservatives to the Solomon G. Brown Corps Center to be used for dinner after Sunday service. The baked goods are also distributed to families in need and to the homeless persons in Washington, DC.
